So Rep. Jim Gibbons reportedly raised about $200,000 last week at an event hosted by MGM Mirage boss Terry Lanni at the tony Mansion at MGM Grand. Not a bad haul for his front-running gubernatorial effort - it would take any of the other contenders weeks to get that much. Gibbons, being grateful, thanked Lanni in remarks before the crowd of those who want to be friends with the next governor. But Gibbons also had words of appreciation for someone else. The congressman told the crowd he sometimes wakes up at night worried about the campaign but finds comfort in the knowledge that he has advice from spinmeister Sig Rogich. And then, I suppose, he sleeps peacefully. As we all do.
