Letter: White House proven to be untrustworthy
Monday, April 10, 2006 | 7:05 a.m.
Now, how can anyone trust anything spoken or released out of the current White House? Riveted deep in our minds is the picture of George Bush telling the nation on television that he wants to get to the bottom of any White House leaks. The truth is that all along he knew he is the one that authorized those leaks.
The now-exposed nefarious nature of the current Republican administration should have been made abundantly clear to us all. The gory details just show that John Dean from the Nixon White House is right when Bush is compared to Nixon. Many of us have harbored a growing suspicion of this over the past five years. Now, testimony from one of the Bush administration's key insiders, Scooter Libby, has turned that gut feeling into a stark reality.
One now stands in shock as we look back on Bush's implied admonition, in which he called for us to blindly trust him and that he knows what is best for the nation.
How anyone, no matter what his political label he may wear - Democrat, Republican, independent or none of the above - can ever believe any utterance out of the White House again is beyond me.
