Letter: Flood of illegal aliens threatens our future

If the guest worker program, proposed by President Bush and now being considered by the U.S. Senate, is to have any meaning, we have to shut down our borders. It is estimated that we have 12 million illegal aliens in the country, with 10,000 more a day coming across our borders. Think of how many that would mean for future years.

In 2010, based on that 10,000 daily number, we would have some 13.5 million illegals, and in 2020 almost 18 million. This is an impossible situation.

There must be an immediate effort to seal our borders, hire more border patrol, build fences and hold employers accountable for who they hire. If we do less than that, then we risk losing all control of the situation, and illegals will flood our country.
