Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 | 9:35 a.m.
A 91-year-old woman and her 43-year-old grandson were found slain in her Las Vegas home on Saturday, Metro Police said.
Family friends checking on the woman discovered the bodies about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, police said, inside the home in the 3900 block of East Stewart Avenue near Pecos Road.
When out-of-state relatives were unable to contact the woman, they had requested local friends to check her welfare, police said.
The Clark County Coroner's office identified the man as Steven Folker of California. An autopsy is being conducted by the coroner's office to determine the exact cause of death.
Metro Sgt. Mike Thompson of the homicide detail said on Monday that there was no update on the homicide.
Both victims showed obvious signs of trauma, police said.
Anyone with information regarding the homicide victims is urged to call Metro's Homicide Section at 229-3521. If the caller wishes to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555. People who provide tips to Crime Stoppers that result in arrests and prosecutions are eligible for cash rewards.
