Fire station will host shot clinic

The Clark County Fire Department is teaming up with the Southern Nevada Immunization Coalition to host a shot clinic Saturday for schoolchildren.

"We are concerned that a number of families in this particular area cannot travel to the (Clark County) Health District," said Melissa Stephenson, the fire department's infection control nurse.

"We believe that many more children will get the inoculations they need by coming to the fire station in their own neighborhood," Stephenson said.

The Back to School Clinic has been scheduled from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at Clark County Fire Department Station 20 at Judson Avenue and Lynn Drive, northeast of Lake Mead and Nellis boulevards.

The Clark County Health District has provided vaccines for all childhood immunizations required in Nevada. The cost is $15 for the first shot and $20 for a complete series.
