Tickets for the 2006 NASCAR weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will go on sale at 8 a.m. Monday, speedway general manager Chris Powell announced Tuesday.
The 2006 UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race will be held Sunday, March 12 while the Sam's Town 300 NASCAR Busch Series race will be held Saturday, March 11. Qualifying for both events will be Friday, March 10. This marks the second consecutive year that the NASCAR weekend at LVMS has been scheduled for the second weekend in March.
Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-800-644-4444, at www.lvms.com or in person at the LVMS ticket office.
The LVMS announcement coincided with NASCAR releasing its 36-race 2006 Nextel Cup Series schedule. Except for a pair of race-date swaps, it is virtually identical to this season's schedule.
Richmond International Raceway's spring race will move up to May 6 and Darlington Raceway's race will follow on May 13. Also, Kansas Speedway's 2006 event will switch weekends with Talladega Superspeedway. The Kansas race will be Oct. 1 while Talladega will be run Oct. 8.
The 2006 season will open with the Daytona 500 on Feb. 19 at Daytona International Speedway and conclude Nov. 19 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The Las Vegas race again will be the series' third stop, following Daytona and California Speedway.
The 26-race "regular season" will again end at Richmond on Sept. 9, while New Hampshire International Speedway again will host the initial event in the Chase for the Nextel Cup, the 10-race stretch that ends the season and determines the series champion. The third annual Chase will begin Sept. 17 at NHIS.
