Letter: Stop litter from escort service/stripper fliers
Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005 | 9:30 a.m.
A worker tries to hand out advertisements for adult entertainment on the sidewalk between Bally's and Paris Las Vegas in June 2003. Stop litter from escort service/stripper fliers
I am totally for freedom of speech, but I am against litter. The number of people handing out "escort service/stripper" fliers on the Strip has dramatically increased over the last four years since we moved here.
It looks bad for our city. It creates litter all over the streets, and many of these people also illegally post their cards on streetlights, fences and walls.
If we can't pass a law against them handing them out, how about enforcing laws against posting by imposing fines for any company whose cards are found posted?
Why not pass a law requiring these people to each carry or strap on a wastebasket so people can take the cards and toss them away if unwanted?
Further, I think each of us should take it upon ourselves to pick up any cards we see on the streets, traffic lights, fences, etc., and throw them out. I do this myself. If every Las Vegas resident who sees these would do so, the litter would be a lot less!
