Letter: Too many blindly following Bush
Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005 | 9:27 a.m.
After reading Richard St. John's Oct. 5 letter in support of President Bush and accusing some of his critics of living in a cave, I would say it is he who needs to come out of the dark.
What has been firmly established is that Bush did not use "the best intelligence he had available," but used the "pick and choose" method for molding the facts to fit his agenda. Now thousands of Americans and Iraqi civilians are dead and injured because of him.
As for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, St. John should check the facts instead of listening only to conservative talk shows. FEMA was headed by a friend of Bush's who had no experience whatsoever in emergency management. He and the president were caught in their game of, "If you pay you can lead."
Unfortunately, the ones who ultimately paid a huge price were the citizens of the Gulf Coast area.
Time and again this administration has been caught in dirty deals, yet people like Mr. St. John, against their own best interests, continue to believe in this farce of an administration.
Bush and his cronies continually say they are patriots and love America, but in action show they only love those with upper-level incomes.
With the rest of us, Mr. St. John and others like him are lemmings who are blindly following Bush as he takes this country over the proverbial cliff.
