Flashpoint for Nov. 17, 2005

It is the end of John Ensign's career. Don't take it from me -- the senator told me himself before a taping of "Face to Face" in Washington. He's done. He's giving up. He still has the heart, but his body can't handle the strain anymore. That's not my trenchant analysis. The admission came from Ensign's lips as he sat down in the Senate studio. Before you flip to the front of the paper to see how you missed the headline, he was talking not about his Senate career, but his athletic career, which has garnered headlines from D.C. to Vegas. Still hobbled by a basketball injury, Ensign conceded that tennis with Rick Santorum and maybe golf with his son were all he could handle. Do I get the big stories or what?
