Letter: Honor thy veterans, Mr. President
Monday, Nov. 14, 2005 | 8:53 a.m.
I am a World War II combat veteran who believes Nov. 11, Veterans Day, was set aside to honor the veterans of American wars. Normally, the president of the United States pays special thanks to all those men and women who have served our nation during times of war. But not George W. Bush.
He was at a military base in Pennsylvania giving an apologetic speech defending his lies that led us into war in Iraq. It was a political speech of the most partisan kind designed to quell the ever growing number of anti-war outbursts. When is he going to learn to both tell the truth and to use a little good judgment?
