Flashpoint for Nov. 3, 2005

The Democrats were all agog Wednesday after reading that Rep. Jim Gibbons had recorded a campaign pitch in his House office. Quicker than you can say "ethics complaint, ( the party issued a news release accusing Gibbons of misdeeds. The Democrats demanded an apology. Slight problem: The videotape, made for a Chamber of Commerce gubernatorial forum, was recorded at Republican National Committee headquarters. Turns out the Democrats had not verified where the tape was made and thus unleashed their partisan wrath. So then came the Gibbons release, demanding an apology from the Democrats for asking for an apology. Just another day in the life of the governor's race.
