Flashpoint for Nov. 2, 2005

If anyone thinks gubernatorial contender Dina Titus is taking that knee-capping letter from party leaders in stride, I have a story for you. You may recall that prominent Democrats signed a letter designed to inoculate Jim Gibson from Titus' charges that he is not a real Democrat. On Saturday night, at the Bill Clinton event at the Bellagio, Titus approached ex-Gov. Bob Miller, who signed the letter, and his wife, Sandy. Titus chatted up the former first lady with great gusto, but acted as if the ex-governor was invisible, not even acknowledging his presence. Titus then whispered to yours truly that she was keeping her anti-Gibson Web site active. "All we did was call for unity," Miller lamented later.
