Letter: Reid defending right to dissent

Good for you, Sen. Harry Reid! We need legislators who tell it like it is and stand for Democratic values of free speech and the right to dissent.

All the howling about Harry, the Senate minority leader, is symptomatic of the power plays of the Republican Party and the Religious Right to control every aspect of government, and in the process dismantle freedoms necessary to any democratic system.

Woe to those who speak, write, broadcast, legislate or adjudicate anything whatsoever that is not to their liking. They have been promised retribution and reprisal. It is usually swift and devastating.

Hang on, Harry. Speak for those of us who fear for our future as the noose of monopoly closes around our freedoms.
