Hospitals planning cancer screens
Sunrise, MountainView and Southern Hills hospitals are offering free skin cancer screening clinics from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Available by appointment only, the free screenings will take place at: Sunrise, 3186, S. Maryland Parkway, (877) 427-8674; MountainView, 3150 N. Tenaya Way, 233-5300; Southern Hills, 9300 W. Sunset Road, 880-2700.
Health-fitness day set for seniors
Seniors age 50 and older are invited to celebrate Senior Health and Fitness Day 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 25 during the Fit for Life Expo at the YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane.
A free lunch will be served to those who register in advance. Registration for activities also will be available on event day. For advance registration or more information, call 242-7791.
Attendees will be invited to participate in tai chi, yoga, hula dancing, functional fitness, chair exercise, strength training, and Senior Olympics events. Participants may attend workshops on nutrition, exercise techniques, use of exercise equipment and how to find qualified assistance. Keynote speakers will include well-known motivational speakers and physical activity experts. A variety of exhibitors will offer information on products and services, as well door prizes.
North 5th Street meetings planned
North Las Vegas is seeking community input on the development of a transit-oriented plan for North Fifth Street.
A series of workshops to gather public input and discuss land use alternatives along the Fifth Street will begin 7 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. and 1:30 po.m. Tuesday at Nevada Partners, 710 W. Lake Mead Blvd., North Las Vegas.

Water Street bike fair is scheduled
The public is invited to attend the second annual "Wheels on Water Street Bicycle Fair" 10 a.m.-2 p.m Saturday at 100 S. Water St., Henderson (between Victory and Pacific Streets).
The event will highlight the National Bike Month Poker Run, a children's bicycle safety course, bicycle helmet giveaway, bicycle decorating booth, and bicycle parade as well as informational booths that will teach bicycle safety and encourage the use of bicycles as alternative commute modes. The event will feature free food, games, prizes, and music.

Bilingual storytime in English and Spanish
will be offered at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the North Las Vegas Library, 2300 Civic Center Drive.
