First Friday expands

Two days. Two.

With 100 artists, live music, stilt dancing, fortune tellers, jewelry designers and poets, First Friday is so big this month it's spilling into Saturday.

The monthly cultural event in the Arts District, held from 6 to 10 tonight, will continue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday with 100 artist booths to celebrate Las Vegas' centennial. The cultural bash will include music by Killian's Angels, the Nines, Lon Bronson's All-Star Band and the Vista Four.

The Funk House will feature new works by Dan Sidlow. Wood carvings that pay tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. can be found at Spart IV Studio. New work by Christine Wetzel will be on display at Wetzel Photo Gallery. Dust Gallery will feature paintings on fashion industry powerhouse by Alonso Mateo and Godt-Cleary Projects will hold a silent auction, featuring work by David Ryan, Ryan Spencer and Jeff Koons, to benefit Nevada Cancer Institute.

Galleries at Main Street and Charleston Boulevard will also feature work by local and national artists, including the Contemporary Arts Collective's exhibit in the Arts Factory of varying perspectives of Las Vegas and its cultural growth. Seat Theater (also in the Arts Factory) will present two shows of sketch comedy and performance art and the play "Croquet Is Okay."

A shuttle service will be running every 20 minutes to the new galleries in Holsum Lofts on Charleston Boulevard. Area restaurants and boutiques will be open for business. Food and beverage vendors will be onsite.
