Bodies of man, woman found in apartment

Metro Police homicide detectives were investigating an apparent murder-suicide after two badly decomposed bodies were found inside an apartment near Flamingo Road and Koval Lane on Sunday.

A neighbor of the couple living at the Desert Club apartments, in the 3900 block of Koval about a block east of the Strip, noticed an odor coming from one of the units Sunday afternoon, Metro Homicide Lt. Tom Monahan said.

A maintenance man kicked in the door to the apartment and found the bodies of a man and a woman, police said.

Officers suspect the two had been dead in the apartment for about three weeks.

One body was found in the kitchen and another in the bedroom of the unit, he said.

Police concluded that the man killed the woman before killing himself, Monahan said.

Police and officials from the Clark County Cororners Office had not released the identities of the dead or any other information about them.

Detectives were investigating whether there had been a history of domestic violence at the apartment where the bodies were discovered, police said.

One apartment resident, who refused to give his name, said the couple often argued loudly.
