Commission OKs tax abatements for valley companies

The Nevada Commission on Economic Development this week approved incentives for two companies promising to create a total of 135 new Clark County jobs.

The commission approved $56,100 in tax abatement and $50,000 in training funds for Hydromaxx CAP Inc., planned commercial and residential water treatment company.

Hydromaxx, which also has plans for a coffee distribution service, plans to open its headquarters and call center in the Las Vegas Valley and is currently looking for a 6,000- to 8,000-square-foot location, documents filed by the state said.

The company plans to hire 50 employees over the next 12 months.

Also approved this week was $85,000 in training funds for Zappos.com, the online shoe retailer which was founded in 1999 and moved its headquarters and customer service center to Las Vegas from San Francisco in 2004.

Zappos currently has nearly 200 employees at its 500 E. Warm Springs Road location. The new application indicated plans to add as many as 85 more employees in Las Vegas.

In October, Zappos was named one of Inc. magazine's 25 fastest growing privately held companies.
