Assemblyman Manendo quits post with community college

Nevada Assemblyman Mark Manendo, D-Las Vegas, resigned from his position as a student recruiter for the Community College of Southern Nevada effective July 1, college officials confirmed.

Manendo has worked for the college since August 2002, John Kuminecz, CCSN spokesman, said. Manendo's current salary is $31,365 a year.

Kuminecz said he could not comment on why Manendo resigned because it was a personnel matter.

Manendo said he resigned to take a public relations job at a private company. He wouldn't name the company, saying he needed to finish the final paperwork with the company.

"I'm a product of the community college, I love the community college, and I will continue to support the college," he said.
