ST. LOUIS -- A longtime fixture on the city's riverfront could be replaced, with plans to close the Admiral casino and open a new one along the Mississippi River.
Columbia Sussex, a hotel and casino operator based in Fort Mitchell, Ky., wants to buy the President Casino on the Admiral for $57 million and replace it with a new casino vessel south of the Admiral's existing site.
On Monday St. Louis Port Authority commissioners voted unanimously to let the St. Louis Development Corp. negotiate a revised mooring agreement with Columbia Sussex, replacing the one that covers the President Casino.
It's one step toward making the new casino a reality.
