Alva 'Al' Clum

Alva "Al" Clum, 86, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born July 23, 1918, in Marcola, Ore. A resident for eight years, he was a retired Navy chief petty officer, a World War II and Korean War veteran and a member of the Fleet Reserve.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; one son, Wallace Clum of Ackworth, Ga.; two daughters, Lynn Jagaciewski of Crested Butte, Colo., and Candis Massengale of Lake Welaska, Ga.; two sisters, June Hart of Salem, Ore., and Doris Hart of Springfield, Ore.; one brother, Jay Clum of Rockaway Beach, Ore.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Shirley Fern Crist

Shirley Fern Crist, 61, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born May 10, 1944, in Ogden, Utah. A resident for 10 years, she was an IRS clerk and a member of the German American Club.

She is survived by three sons, Chad Jensen of Phoenix, Scotte Jensen of Las Vegas and JoDee Crist of Ogden; three daughters, Julieanne Snowball and Makala Crist, both of Las Vegas and Linnie Smith of Tacoma, Wash.; two brothers, Ron Campbell of Pacheco, Calif., and Gary Campbell of Montesano, Wash.; four sisters, LaRae Obenauf and Bonnie George, both of Las Vegas Patricia Malloy of Ogden and Sherrie Prein of Rupert, Idaho; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation was scheduled 11 a.m. until a noon service today in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

The family suggests donations to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 4850 W. Flamingo Road, Suite 27, Las Vegas, NV 89103 or to the family.

Josephine DiFiore

Josephine DiFiore, 75, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born April 2, 1930, in Palermo, Sicily. A resident for 16 years, she was a retired seamstress.

She is survived by three sisters, Sadie Sorrentino, Mary DiFiore and Margaret Wands, all of Las Vegas; and one brother, Salvatore DiFiore of Waterbury, Conn.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 1 p.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.

Paul Hettinger

Paul Hettinger, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born May 8, 1923, in Windsor, Colo. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired veteran of the Merchant Marines and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by one brother, Herold Hettinger, and one sister, Freida Pixler, both of Windsor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 8:40 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Wilfred John Juergensmeyer

Wilfred John Juergensmeyer, 86, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Koeltztown, Mo. A resident for 23 years, he was a retired government carpenter and a World War II Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Doris.

He is survived by two daughters, Rose Mary Cook of North Las Vegas and Rebecca Encinas of Las Vegas; three sons, Ronald Juergensmeyer and Donald Juergensmeyer, both of Las Vegas and John Juergensmeyer of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; two sisters, Helda Niekamp of Jefferson City, Mo., and Marcella Smith of Troy, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9-11 a.m. Friday with services following at 11:30 in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Joanne Laduca

Joanne Laduca, 68, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 1, 1936, in Rochester, N.Y. A resident for four years, she was a retired department store interior decorator.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph; two daughters, Roxanne Laduca and Vicki Weidenbach, and one son, Michael Laduca, all of Rochester; one sister, Delma Rodwell of Las Vegas; one brother, Victor Cinelli of Deltona, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Thursday with a 6 p.m. rosary in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Marc D. Miller

Marc D. Miller, 33, of North Las Vegas died Friday. He was born Jan. 3, 1972, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a superintendent.

He is survived by his fiancee, Ginger M. Menth of North Las Vegas; one brother, Michael B. Miller, his grandfather, Bernard E. Hummer, and his aunt, Shawn Andrews, all of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Charlene J. Stachowiak

Charlene J. Stachowiak, 69, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born July 24, 1935, in Spring Valley, Ill. A resident for eight years, she was a retired chief financial officer for a wire manufacturing firm.

She is survived by her husband, Ernie; one son, Jan Stachowiak of Costa Mesa, Calif.; one daughter, Kim Stachowiak of Rockford, Ill.; two sisters, Phyllis Stillwell of Streater, Ill., and Sharon Rosalia of Peru, Ill.; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Billy Earl Taylor

Billy Earl Taylor, 63, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born July 12, 1941, in Oklahoma. A resident for 25 years, he was an auto body repairman and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; one son, Edward; one daughter, Billie Jean; one sister, Annette; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled two hours prior to a 4 p.m. service today in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
