Las Vegas City Council candidate Lois Tarkanian's campaign was helped by Rep. Shelley Berkley, D-Nev., and a significant loan from her family trust, according to campaign finance reports provided by the candidate Wednesday.
Tarkanian raised $86,850 and spent $39,157 as of Friday, according to the reports Tarkanian said she sent by registered mail to the city clerk on Tuesday's deadline to file.
Campaign finance reports from Councilwoman Janet Moncrief and challenger Vicki Quinn were available to the public and reported by the media Tuesday as both of those candidates delivered their reports to the clerk's office.
According to the filed reports, Quinn raised $121,725 and spent $69,204, and Moncrief had raised $12,000 and spent $6,148 as of Friday.
Tarkanian's report showed she paid at least $9,000 to printing companies and $14,750 to a California-based communications company.
The money she raised included a $50,000 loan from her family trust, plus $1,000 from Berkley for Congress, $1,000 from the Rogich Communications Group and $5,000 each from Lynn Hansen and Jimmerson Hansen.
