James R. Badilla

James R. Badilla, 52, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 16, 1952, in Bakersfield, Calif. A resident for seven years, he was a Las Vegas Limousine driver.

He is survived by his mother, Carmen Rodriques, and two sisters, Irene Ornelas and Martha Rea, all of Santa Barbara, Calif.

A memorial service was scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St.

Rose Burcham

Rose Burcham, 58, of Las Vegas died Tuesday. A homemaker, she was born Aug. 4, 1946, in Chicago.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas; one daughter, Esther; and one son, Paul.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 3 p.m. service Friday in Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St.

Joseph Caira

Joseph Caira, 77, of Henderson died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 10, 1927, in Brussels, Belgium. A resident for 15 months, he was a retired electronics technician.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Christiane Heuninck and Chantal Straulens, both of Brussels; and one granddaughter.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Henderson.

The family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, 6370 W. Flamingo Road, Suite 1, Las Vegas, NV 89103.

Hazel Lee Herbert

Hazel Lee Herbert, 77, of Henderson died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born July 17, 1927, in Wartrace, Tenn. A resident for 55 years, she was a retired hotel food and beverage checker.

She is survived by one daughter, Sherrie Hinz of Henderson; one son, James E. Herbert of Las Vegas; three brothers, James Cleveland of Lynwood, Calif., and George Cleveland and Aubrey Cleveland, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Mary Jett and Margaret Tanksley, both of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Chapel, Main. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Leona G. Jensen

Leona G. Jensen, 94, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 19, 1910, in Oshkosh, Wis. A resident for 25 years, she was a retired music teacher.

She is survived by two sons, Jene Jensen of Las Vegas and Ernie Jensen of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1 p.m. until a 3 p.m. service Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Margareta Haggard Mason

Margareta Haggard Mason, 85, of Henderson died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born May 21, 1919, in Stockholm, Sweden. A resident for 42 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, William H.; one daughter, Ann Haggard-McDermott of Arlington, Va.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Christ Church Episcopal, 2100 Maryland S. Parkway.

Karen Ardell McDermott

Karen Ardell McDermott, 60, of Cornville, Ariz., died Tuesday. She was born July 19, 1944, in Tucson. A former Las Vegas resident, she was a bartender, a school bus driver, a dental assistant and helped operate the Cowgirl Clothing Company.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Tom; and one sister, Jane Orlecky.

She is survived by two daughters, Ardell Handverger of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Sham Eldridge of Elko; her father, Doug Rutherford of Cave Creek, Ariz.; her mother, Belva Allen, and one brother, Adam Jones, both of Cottonwood; three sisters, Buckshot Carpenter of Baghdad, Charlene Kester of Cottonwood and Judy Jones-Dalton of Rimrock, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

Services were in Arizona. Westcott Funeral Home, Cottonwood, handled arrangements.

James S. Nitta

James S. Nitta, 84, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 3, 1920, in Honolulu. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired District Court bailiff and a former member of the Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Clara; two daughters, Amy Motooka of Honolulu and Sharon Young of Garden Grove, Calif.; three sons, Bert Kimura and Maurice Nitta, both of Honolulu, and Randy Nitta of Henderson; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Barbara J. Seno

Barbara J. Seno, 69, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born March 2, 1935, in California. A resident for 60 years, she was a librarian aide for the Clark County School District.

She is survived by one son, Robert V. Seno.; four daughters, Sharon Nowlin, Lynda D. Coyle, Nancy M. Seno and Cathryn Murphy; one sister, Elizabeth Seymour; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Thursday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

The family suggests donations to a local library in Barbara's name.

Vera Splan

Vera Splan, 90, of Boulder City died Saturday in Boulder City. She was born April 30, 1914, in McIntosh, Minn. A resident for 34 years, she was a retired registered nurse and a member of Rose Chapter 22 of Order of the Eastern Star in Conneaut, Ohio.

She is survived by one son, Phillip C. Splan of Kissimmee, Fla.; friends, John and Sue Higley of Boulder City; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Palm Mausoleum, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Monte E. Swick

Monte E. Swick, 69, of Pahrump died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 17, 1935, in West Allis, Wis. A resident for 14 years, he was a retired Navy signalman first class and a World War II veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Florence B.; two daughters, Lisa Lewis of Castleton, Vt., and Rebecca Kinshaw of Claremont, N.H.; one son, Keith Swick of Newport, N.H.; one stepson, John A. Pederson of Claremont; one stepdaughter, Janet M. Swan of Pahrump; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 9:20 a.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Gerald Elmer Tenesch

Gerald Elmer Tenesch, 70, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 29, 1934, in Las Vegas. A resident for many years, he was a retired roofer.

He is survived by three sisters, Ruth Pyles Blaszczak of Las Vegas, Evelyn Thamer of Phoenix and Gloria Reamer of Beaver, Utah.

Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday followed by visitation until 7 p.m. in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.
