WIC smart cards will be issued
The Nevada State Health Division's Women, Infants and Children program and the Economic Opportunity Board Community Action Partnership will present their WIC Health Passport Smart Card project 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Jones WIC Clinic, 2041 N. Jones Blvd., Suite 104.
EOB is slated to issue WIC clients new Smart Cards, a versatile ATM-like card that contains a computer chip and stores health records and eligibility for WIC. Following the issuance of the Smart Cards, a hands-on demonstration will be available at the Albertsons grocery store, 6140 W. Lake Mead Blvd.

NBT to honor Ann-Margret
Nevada Ballet Theatre will honor Ann-Margret as 2005 Woman of the Year at its annual Black and White gala fundraiser 7 p.m. Saturday in in Palace Ballroom at Caesars Palace.
Ann-Margret has been nominated twice for an Academy Award, won five Golden Globe Awards and received six Emmy nominations for her television work.

Health care center offers tips on roses
The Barbara Greenspun WomensCare Center of Excellence, 100 N. Green Valley Parkway, Suite No. 330, and the Las Vegas Rose Society will host Prescription for Beautiful Roses, a presentation on caring for roses 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in St. Rose Dominican Hospitals Siena Campus, 3001 St. Rose Parkway, Henderson.
Experts will give live demonstrations by pruning the roses in the hospital's Healing Garden. Hot chocolate and teas will be served. Call 616-4900.
