The City Council of Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Monday has approved an expansion of an existing Harrah's casino that will involve renaming the property Horseshoe Council Bluffs. The property, which will offer 68,000 square feet of additional casino space, marks the first Harrah's property to adopt the Horseshoe brand since Harrah's purchased its competitor last year. The expansion will open by the company's first fiscal quarter in 2006.
Harrah's Entertainment announced the Horseshoe project in November.
