A 21-year-old Las Vegas woman was critically injured this morning when she was thrown from her Ford Explorer after it collided with a car at a high rate of speed on Fort Apache Road near Reno Avenue, police said.
Metro Police said Rebecca Broetmann was driving north on Fort Apache just before 1 a.m. with her headlights off. Her SUV collided with a Saturn that was pulling out of a parking lot and trying to turn west onto Fort Apache.
Broetmann's vehicle spun, slid sideways and went off the west edge of the road, police said. It rolled side over side 1 1/4 times, coming to rest on its left side about 570 feet from the initial impact with a Saturn sedan.
During the rollover, Broetmann was ejected from the vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries. She was taken to University Medical Center, where she was still in critical condition in the trauma intenseive care unit this morning.
The driver of the Saturn, Bree Blumstein, 26, of Las Vegas, was not injured.
