Smoke shop clerk shot to death

A smoke shop clerk was shot and killed Sunday by someone who North Las Vegas Police believe robbed him.
It was the first homicide recorded in North Las Vegas for 2005.
North Las Vegas Police officers arrived at 10:30 a.m. Sunday to a store in the 3000 block of West Craig Road after a report that shots had been fired, police spokesman Sean Walker said.
Police discovered a man lying in front of the business, Walker said. The man, who appeared to be in his 30s, had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner's office will not release the name of the man until his family has been notified, a spokesman said.
Witnesses told police that the dead man had been working in the smoke shop.
Police said it appears that the man confronted the robber outside the store. He was then shot and killed after the robbery.
"We're hoping we can get some videotape from inside the smoke shop," Walker said.
