Benefit planned for ALS research

David Saxe's third annual benefit for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis will begin 9 p.m. Friday in the V Theater in the Desert Passage shops at the Aladdin.

Proceeds benefit ALS of Nevada, the only not-for-profit voluntary health organization in Nevada that provides direct, hands-on assistance to those suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Specialty acts to preform include: The Scintas, George Wallace, Wayne Newton, Penn and Teller, the cast of V, the X Girls, Fab Four, Clint Holmes, Lance Burton, Gladys Knight and many more.

Tickets are $150, which includes a 7:30 p.m. VIP cocktail party (open bar and hors d'oeuvres); $100 for Premiere tickets; $75 for Celebrity tickets.

Days of Old event is scheduled

The Rainbow Company Youth Theatre presents Las Vegas Days of Old at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

In honor of the Las Vegas Centennial, the annual Old West Series features fascinating tales and anecdotes derived from Las Vegas history.

Admission is $7; $5 for teens and seniors; $3 for children under age 12. Call 229-6211.
