Letter: Superintendent should step in

Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005 | 9:09 a.m.

Unless there is a whole lot more here than meets the eye, Clark County School District Superintendent Carlos Garcia should step in immediately and dismiss Principal Gerald Velasquez at Centennial High School.

Imagine ... a teacher upset about being a target of a violent drawing circulated on campus and expressing concern to the local media. The media ought to be howling for Garcia to act responsibly in this matter.

Mr. Velasquez doesn't like bad publicity for his school? Well, it happened on his watch. His dismissal of the teacher is evidence of a world gone mad.
