The news of naming the basketball court at the Thomas & Mack Center for Jerry Tarkanian is most delightful. He has earned it for what he accomplished at UNLV. The one sad spot is that he hasn't been entered into the Basketball Hall of Fame, which he truly deserves.
However, I would not call him the greatest basketball coach, as did letter writer Bobbi Youngblood on Dec. 2. This honor, in my estimation, remains with John Wooden for what he accomplished at UCLA during the 1950s and '60s.
