Showroom: ‘Pianist to the Presidents’

Caesars Palace pianist David Osborne may be visiting the White House more often than Santa Claus.

Osborne will be taking his bag of Christmas music to Washington Saturday for a performance for President and Mrs. Bush at a meet-and-greet in the Blue and Red rooms (reception areas).

He has been performing Christmas gigs for the Bush family for several years.

"Every year they put me in something different," Osborne said. "I perform at a lot of receptions and dinners."

He will perform from 6:45 p.m. until 8 p.m.

The 45-year-old native of Miami, Okla., bills himself as "The Pianist to the Presidents."

He performs often for former President Jimmy Carter at various functions; he performed for Bill Clinton several times when he was president; and he once performed for Ronald Reagan after he left office.

Osborne's regular gig is at Caesars' Cafe Lago.

Gary Allan at HOB

Country music sensation Gary Allan, who recently debuted his sixth album "Tough All Over," will perform at the House of Blues Saturday

Showtime is 8 p.m.

In an October review, Rolling Stone wrote:

"Country singers are notorious for serving up tales of heartache with a wink and a smile ... But Gary Allan's sixth album is, unfortunately, chillingly authentic.

"Recorded in the wake of his wife's suicide, 'Tough All Over' lives up to its title with tear-jerkers like 'Putting My Misery on Display' and "Ring.' " Entertainment Weekly said of the new album, "The music of California honky-tonker Gary Allan has always set itself apart with a dark, dreamy vibe and an edge of hypnotic danger.

"Yet 'Tough All Over' ... plunges deeper ... "

Angela Allan's death in October was ruled a suicide.

The couple, who had been married for three years, had six children from previous relationships.

Allan's 1999 breakthrough album, "Smoke Rings in the Dark," established the native of Southern California as a major country singer and songwriter.

Two Bonos

Fans of Dennis Bono's radio variety/talk show "Las Vegas Now" will be happy to know that beginning Saturday the program will be on the air twice a week.

When KJUL 104.3-FM changed its format, from adult standards to country, Bono moved his hourlong show from that station to KUNV 91.5-FM, where it can be heard at 7 p.m. Fridays.

Bono says the show now may also be heard on KDWN 720-AM at 2 p.m. Saturdays, beginning Dec. 3.

However, the KDWN show is a 30-minute version of the KUNV program.

"Las Vegas Now" is taped at 2 p.m. Thursdays at Sam's Town.

Honky Tonk rodeo

"Honky Tonk Angels," which was a mainstay at the Gold Coast for several years before moving on last year, will be at the Sahara's Casbar Lounge Dec. 6-11 during National Finals Rodeo week.

The free shows will be at 10 p.m. and midnight nightly, except Dec. 11, when performances will be at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
