Divers invited to Willow Beach cleanup
Volunteers and certified divers are needed for the fourth annual Black Canyon/Willow Beach Ecology Dive cleanup Saturday.
Beach cleanup volunteers should wear sunscreen and bring hats, gloves, and footwear that can get wet and meet at the Willow Beach Store. Experienced, certified divers with "C" cards are needed for the ECO dive that will take place in the cold crystal clear 52-degree water of the Colorado River.
Divers must bring their "C" cards, dry suits or 7 mm wet suits, hoods, and gloves. Registration will be from 8-9 a.m. Dive briefing will begin about 9:30 a.m.
Divers will be eligible for door prizes to be raffled off at the end of the day. Boats will transport clean-up volunteers to selected beaches. All volunteers will get a commemorative T-shirt and a barbecue lunch.
Willow Beach is located on the Arizona side of Lake Mohave and is just 13 miles south of Hoover Dam. Anyone interested in volunteering can call 294-1414.
Cashman to host child safety event
The Las Vegas Security Chiefs Association and Nevada Child Seekers in association with the Las Vegas 51s and Aramark will host the fourth annual children's safety event at 6 p.m. Friday at Cashman Field, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
The event gives parents the opportunity to have their children's DNA samples taken free of charge and enjoy a family outing to the ball park. The DNA's samples are given to the parents as a valuable tool to assist police officers in the event their child is ever missing or abducted.

Nathan Adelson Hospice
is offering a volunteer education course free to the Las Vegas community from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 17, 24 and Oct. 1 at 4131 Swenson St. Participants must be able to attend all three classes. The program offers 24 hours of education providing tools and resources needed to care for terminally ill patients and their families' emotional and practical support. The North Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce
will hold its monthly Good Morning North Las Vegas breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sept. 14 at Santa Fe Station. The program "Creating Raving Fans" will be presented by Teri Laursen of Action International. Cost is $17 prepaid for members and $20 for nonmembers. Add $5 if paying at the door.
