Ellen Marie Bethea

Ellen Marie Bethea, 45, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born Dec. 15, 1959, in New Haven, Conn. A resident of Southern Nevada for nine years, she was a retail manager.

She is survived by her parents, Donald and Shirley Buckholz of Bayonet Point, Fla.; two sisters, Patricia Haefele of Bradenton, Fla., and Kathryn Ryan of Branford, Conn.; three brothers, James Buckholz of Chattanooga, Tenn., and William Buckholz and Thomas Buckholz, both of Milford, Conn.; and her former husband, Darryl Bethea of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Wednesday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

August 'Lee' Fofi

August "Lee" Fofi, 69, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Olyphant, Pa. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired chief engineer at the Monte Carlo, a retired Air Force master sergeant, a Vietnam War veteran, a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; four sons, Maj. Richard Fofi of Austin, Texas, Col. Randall Fofi of Portland, Ore., Msgt. Anthony Fofi of Pope Air Force Base, N.C., and David Fofi of Los Angeles; one sister, Marie Angeli of Deptford, N.J.; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Eastern.

The family suggests donations to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 3538, North Las Vegas, NV 89036-3538.

Larry W. Gibbs Sr.

Larry W. Gibbs Sr., 66, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 28, 1938, in Hamburg, Ark. A resident for 46 years, he retired as a heavy equipment operator from the Water District.

He is survived by his wife, Robbie M.; two daughters, Oneater Walker of Las Vegas and Carolyn Johnson of Monticello, Ark.; and two sons, Larry Gibbs Jr. and David Lamar Gibbs, both of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ, 1117 N. F St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Dell Way Hosier Graham

Dell Way Hosier Graham, 89, of Tustin, Calif., died Friday in an Orange, Calif., hospital. She was born April 24, 1916, in Thomaston, Ala. A former Las Vegas resident for many years, she was a longtime employee at the Long Beach Visitors and Convention Bureau and volunteered at the Children's Benefit of Long Beach, Calif., and the John Tracy Clinic.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 53 years, Ray F. Hosier in 1989.

She is survived by her husband of five years, Hershal; one daughter, Jill Uttz of Santa Ana, Calif.; one son, Jack Hosier of Long Beach; two sisters, Barbara Barber of Napa, Calif., and Nedra Spingler of Topeka, Kan.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Fairhaven Memorial Park and Mortuary, Santa Ana, is handling arrangements.

Harvey E. Hawks

Harvey E. Hawks, 65, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 30, 1939, in Goshen, Ind. A resident for three years, he was an entrepreneur and a member of the Elks.

He is survived by two sons, Steven W. Hawks of Greenfield, Ind., and Michael E. Hawks of New Palestine, Ind.; and seven grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Helen Polovina

Helen Polovina, 98, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 8, 1906, in Castle Gate, Utah. A resident for four years, she was a retired telephone operator.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Judy Polovina of Las Vegas; and one granddaughter.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Emily Kristina Sanchez

Emily Kristina Sanchez, 3 weeks, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born July 30, 2005, in Moreno Valley, Calif.

She is survived by her mother, Gloria Deodanes, her father, Ramon Sanchez, and her grandparents, Ana and Reinaldo Doodanes, all of Henderson.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 4 p.m. service Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.
