Health District extending immunizations for students

With the 2005-06 school year for the Clark County School District less than a week away, the Clark County Health District is extending the hours of its low-cost immunization clinic for students.

Located at the Health District's main offices at 625 Shadow Lane, the immunization clinic will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Sept. 9.

While most of the immunizations are free, a $16-per-patient administrative fee will be applied for children receiving a single immunization. For two or more immunizations the fee will be $20 per patient.

Parents are asked to bring copies of their children's shot records to the clinic.

State law requires students enrolling in public or private school to be immunized against infectious diseases. The required immunizations are: chicken pox, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, polio, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (DTaP), measles, mumps and rubella (MMR).

To accommodate the expected influx of students at the Shadow Lane office, the Health District will offer travel immunizations at its McCarran Airport clinic location only through Sept. 9. No travel immunizations will be distributed at any other Health District locations. No childhood immunizations will be distributed at the airport clinic.

For a listing of community providers offering travel vaccinations or more information about the Health District's clinic, call (702) 383-1351.
