Metro Police arrested a 23-year-old man Monday in connection with the killing of a man who was found in a motel room in the 200 block of N. 7th Street.
Gilberto Carrillo was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for murder with a deadly weapon and possession of a stolen vehicle.
Police alleged that Carrillo killed a 36-year-old man who had been shot in the head and left in the motel room. The identification of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the family.
The police were tipped off about the homicide earlier in the day when Metro officers were investigating a suspicious car, according to Metro. The officers discovered it was stolen and the occupants were taken into custody.
While being interviewed, one of the suspects told Metro there was a dead man in the motel room, according to Metro.
After confirming that the body was there, police located Carillo at 4th and Charleston Blvd. and attempted to arrest him but he jumped over a second-story stairwell and landed into a storage facility just south of Charleston Blvd.
Metro searched the area and found Gilberto hiding under a moving truck.
