Prospective jurors can go online

Now you can confirm your jury service online at anytime.

The District Court activated eJuror on Friday, giving prospective jurors a tool in addition to the phone to respond to a summons.

eJuror can be accessed at ejuror.co.clark.nv.us.

"We believe eJuror will allow us to further reduce wait times and confusion about serving on a jury in Clark County," said Chief District Judge Kathy Hardcastle.

The eJuror system provides information about jury service, payment and trials. It also gives prospective jurors an opportunity to postpone or defer service until a later date.

Funded by the Clark County Commission, the eJuror Jury Management System was purchased for $28,000. Annual operating costs are estimated at $4,000.

Clark County Commission Chairman Rory Reid said the internet system "furthers efforts to reach out to prospective jurors and give them the best information available."

The web-based system joins a phone system put in place three years ago, which allowed the court to reduce phone wait times by 85 percent, according to court officials.

The court expects eJuror will be used by 25 percent of summoned jurors, who will point and click to respond to summons.

The system is expected to reduce telephone volume by about 30 percent and reduce the time individuals wait to speak to a jury services assistant. In addition, the system is expected to eliminate clerical errors, officials said.
