Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005 | 11:12 a.m.
One person died and three people were injured in a Tuesday night crash involving four vehicles that shut down northbound traffic on Decatur Boulevard from Bonanza Road to Washington Avenue.
The Clark County Coroner's office identified the dead man as Val Wayne Eggleston, 61. He was driving a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck, according to Metro Police.
Three others were also injured in the accident, though none of the injuries were listed as serious, according to Metro. Martha Rodriguez, 35, who was driving a 2000 Lincoln Navigator, sustained moderate injuries, according to Metro.
Tow of the other drivers, John Prine, whose age was not available, and Raul Alvarado, 42, suffered minor injuries.
The accident occurred at 9:52 p.m., police said. Alvarado, Prine and Rodriguez were reportedly waiting at a traffic light in a left turn lane at the intersection of Decatur and Washington, according to Metro.
Eggleston was approaching the stopped cars from behind and began to drift into the left lane, according to Metro.
Eggleston's vehicle struck Rodriguez's vehicle from behind, which pushed her 2000 Lincoln into Prine's and Alvarado's vehicles, according to Metro.
Rodriguez was taken to UMC.
