Anti-drug task force recognized
Friday, April 29, 2005 | 8:16 a.m.
Mayor Oscar Goodman and Carson City Mayor Marv Teixeira will recognize the work of Las Vegas' multi-agency gang task force at noon Tuesday at the Andre Agassi Boys and Girls Club, 800 N. Martin Luther King Blvd.
The task force will serve as the model for a new anti-drug and anti-gang group in Carson City.
The Las Vegas task force focuses on intervention, prevention and enforcement programs in an effort to keep people out of gangs, rehabilitate gang members and punish those who break the law. Task force officials estimate that the group impacted the lives of 28,000 juveniles and young adults last year, setting them on the path to get out of, or stay away from, the gang lifestyle. Call 455-2166.
