51s lose on walk-off single
Adam Morrissey hit a tie-breaking, bases-loaded single in the ninth inning Sunday to lead the Sacramento River Cats to a 4-3 victory against the Las Vegas 51s in West Sacramento, Calif.
Tim Harikkala pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win for the River Cats, who led 3-1 before Mike Rose's two-run double in the sixth. Rose, who played for Sacramento the last two seasons, went 3-for-4 for Las Vegas.
But Jermaine Clark had three hits for Sacramento, and Morrissey got the decisive hit off former Oakland Athletics reliever Mike Venafro, who allowed two hits and two walks in the ninth.
Armstrong sits back; teammate triumphs
Lance Armstrong, the greatest individual bike racer America has produced, ended his domestic racing career in Alpharetta, Ga., by helping ensure that Discovery Channel teammate Tom Danielson wound up the winner of the Tour de Georgia. Armstrong announced last week that he planned to retire this summer after attempting to win a seventh consecutive Tour de France.
