Pediatrician pleads not guilty to porn charges

Thursday, April 21, 2005 | 9:43 a.m.

A 32-year-old Las Vegas pediatrician pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to 70 charges related to allegations he sexual assaulted and photographed children under the age of 14.

Dr. David Glenn Evans is scheduled to stand trial Nov. 19 before District Judge Nancy Saitta.

If found guilty as charged, he could be sentenced to life in prison. Evans was arrested in December by Metro after officers received information that child pornography had been found on Evans' home computer. Police reported that they recovered from the computer about 40 pornographic images of boys.

After Evans was taken into custody he told Metro Police that one of his victims was a local boy he had met through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada, according to his arrest report

Evans had been a resident physician at the University of Nevada School of Medicine since the summer and had worked at University Medical Center and Sunrise Hospital, but police have not reported uncovering any evidence linking him to any children he met through his job.

He is also charged with 32 felonies in connection to alleged interaction with a child under the age of 14 in California , according to Amador County authorities. He will not face the charges in California until after his case in Las Vegas has concluded.
