Johnson, 61, is oldest to win

Warren Johnson became the oldest driver to win a pro drag race, and Tony Schumacher raced to his 23rd career Top Fuel victory Sunday at the O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park.

The 61-year-old Johnson took the Pro Stock race, finishing in 6.714 seconds at 205.01 mph for his 93rd career win. He beat Jason Line, who clocked in at 6.735 at 204.29.

Schumacher won for the second time this year, beating Cory McClenathan in the final in a record speed of 335.32 mph.

UNLV dusts Wyoming

UNLV, ranked 39th in the nation, moved indoors in the blizzard-struck Front Range and then moved to 4-1 in Mountain West Conference play with a 4-0 victory against Wyoming at the Miramont Sport Center.

The Lady Rebels, who were stuck in Colorado overnight because of the spring snowstorms, improved to 11-6 overall by winning two of three doubles matches and three singles matches in straight sets.

With host Colorado State waiting to play San Diego State, the remaining matches were halted or canceled.

CCSN wins four

With a variety of weather conditions Friday afternoon, everything from a stiff brisk wind to rain, to even marble-sized hail, the Community College of Southern Nevada Coyotes managed to fight through the elements and reel off four wins at Colorado Northwestern Community College in Scenic West conference action.

The Coyotes (37-7, 23-5) and Spartans (5-34, 1-27) agreed to play a tripleheader on Friday in anticipation of the approaching snowstorm. Even with two weather-related delays, CCSN and CNCC still managed to get the three games completed on Friday.

Derksen takes second European Tour title

Robert-Jan Derksen of the Netherlands shot a 5-under 67 Sunday to win the Madeira Island Open by two strokes.

Derksen, who won his second European Tour title, knocked in six birdies and a bogey to finish at 13 under and beat overnight leader Andrew McLardy (70) and Gary Orr (69). Derksen also won the 2003 Dubai Desert Classic.

Kyron Sullivan, who led Friday and Saturday, finished in a tie for seventh after carding a 3 over.
