Ken Burns

Award-winning documentary filmmaker Ken Burns will present "Sharing the American Experience" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at UNLV's Artemus Ham Hall. Admission is free, but tickets are required. Limit two per person. 895-2787.

'Reading Las Vegas'

The following events will be held this week to recognize "Reading Las Vegas," a month-long free reading program for adults ages 18 and older. All events are free:

7 p.m. Tuesday -- Lecture by author Paul Czuchra at the Spring Valley Library, 4280 S. Jones Blvd. Book signing to follow. 507-3820.

6:30 p.m. Wednesday -- Lecture by author Lisa Frye at the West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd. 507-3980.

Arts festival

The Clark County Museum, 1830 S. Boulder Highway, presents the 16th Native American Arts Festival from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today to Sunday. Activities include Native American artist demonstrations, storytelling, foods, a "make and take" art area and more. Admission is $3 adults, $2 seniors and children. 455-7955.

'DrumFest'

Henderson presents "DrumFest '05/Nevada PAS Day of Percussion" from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Henderson Pavilion at the corner of Paseo Verde Parkway and Paseo Verde. Admission is $5. Activities include performances, workshops and hands-on drumming events with world-renowned performers and artists. 524-1678.

First Friday

First Friday, the monthly arts festival in Las Vegas' Arts District, begins at 6 p.m. today. For maps of the Arts District, go online to www.firstfriday-lasvegas.org/.

Disneyland trip

Henderson's Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a trip to Disneyland. The bus departs at 2:30 a.m. Saturday from the Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St., and at 3 a.m. from the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway. Buses department Disneyland at 8 p.m. Saturday and return at 1 a.m. Sunday. Admission is $95 per person. 267-4053.

'Star Wars'

Las Vegas' Cultural Affairs Division presents "Star Wars" at 4 p.m. Thursday at the East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave. Admission is free. 229-1515.

Super Saturday

Las Vegas presents a free "Super Saturday Celebration" from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at James Gay Park, at the corner of B Street and Owens Avenue. Activities include carnival games, face painting, a jump house and mini workshops. 229-2158.

Dance fest

Las Vegas presents the "Critical Kondition Dance Fest" at 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $5 for spectators but free for performing teams. The event is open to dancers 3 to 20. 229-5096.

Movies

Las Vegas presents the following movies at the Stupak Community Center, 300 W. Boston Ave. Admission is free, and food will be provided. 229-2488:

Kite workshop

Las Vegas will offer a kite-building workshop from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center, 101 N. Pavilion Center Drive. Admission is $10 and includes supplies. 229-1100.

Book signing

Sarah Marks, author of the best-selling book "Reservations Required -- Culinary Secrets of Las Vegas' Celebrity Chefs," will team with Chef Luigi Bomparola of Canaletto at the Venetian for a cooking demonstration / book signing from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Williams Sonoma store at Rampart.
