Nellie Mae Berry

Nellie Mae Berry, 87, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 19, 1917, in Georgia. A resident for 41 years, she was disabled.

She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Smerek of Henderson and Laverne Jones of Las Vegas; and one brother, Bill Berry of Columbus, Ga.

Visitation is scheduled from noon until a 1 p.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.

Edna Pearl Blanchette

Edna Pearl Blanchette, 61, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. A retired nurse's aide, she was born April 29, 1943.

She is survived by her husband, Larry; one son, Leon Dean of San Francisco; one daughter, Donna Pugh of Houma, La.; and six grandchildren.

George 'Speedy' Burton

George "Speedy" Burton, 72, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 18, 1932, in Little Rock, Ark. A resident for 40 years, he was a professional gambler.

He is survived by two sons, Vincent Burton of Long Beach, Calif., and Jason Burton of Las Vegas; two daughters, Donna Burton and Wendy Barnner, both of Los Angeles; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1 p.m. until a 3 p.m. service Monday in Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St.

Herman Charles Dettmann Jr.

Herman Charles Dettmann Jr., 66, of Henderson died Tuesday in Henderson. He was born Sept. 20, 1938, in Rock Island, Ill. A resident for two years, he was a retired hotel bartender, a Korean War Army veteran, a past member of the Canyon City, Colo., Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; two daughters, Kim Hackbarth of Rutledge, Minn., and Debbie Brandenburg of Colorado Springs; two stepsons, Mitchell Dillavou of Johnson Creek, Wis., and Steve Dillavou of Mitchellville, Iowa; one sister, Jeanette Pierce of Rock Island, Ill.; one brother, Howard Dettmann of Illinois; and seven grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Francisca Naval Faraon

Francisca Naval Faraon, 79, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 25, 1924, in the Philippines. A resident for six years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by five daughters, Lucita Sarles and Lydia Faraon, both of Las Vegas, Elvira Leonard and Lorna Dorman, both of California, and Sonia Maligaya of Maryland; and two sons, Ramon Faraon of California and Maximo Faraon of Philippines.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Bunkers Chapel.

John 'Jocko' May

John "Jocko" May, 65, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 29, 1939, in Glasgow, Scotland. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired transporter for the federal government, a Vietnam War Army veteran, a member of the Moose, Elks and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10047.

He is survived by his wife, Ida M.; one son, Stuart Rush of Las Vegas; three daughters, Donna Romo and Lisa Bartels, both of Las Vegas, and Tina Taylor of Dove Canyon, Calif.; two brothers, Donald May of Henderson and Steven May of Bracknell, England; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Randall M. Mihelic

Randall M. Mihelic, 58, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 12, 1945, in Gary, Ind. A resident for 25 years, he was an employee of Resorts International and an Army veteran.

He is survived by one brother, Ron Mihelic of Las Vegas.

Maria Dolores Ortiz

Maria Dolores Ortiz, 36, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 24, 1967, in Michoacan, Mexico. A resident for eight years, she was a static board operator at the Luxor.

She is survived by two daughters, Amity Hernandez and Ruby Ortiz; one son, Christian Hernandez; her mother, Rosa Madrigh; her father, Jesus Hernandez; one sister, Rita Hernandez; and two brothers, Albino Hernandez and Jesus Guillen.

Stanley J. Ranquist

Stanley J. Ranquist, 79, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 29, 1924, in Riverside, Idaho. A resident for 30 years, he was a taxicab driver and an Army veteran.

He is survived by one nephew, Brooksby Hafen of Santa Clara, Utah.

Francisco Rodriguez-Sanchez

Francisco Rodriguez-Sanchez, 25, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 9, 1978, in Acapulco, Mexico. A resident for 24 years, he was a laborer in the food service industry.

He is survived by two sons, Carlos Rodriguez of Texas and Sebastian Rodriguez of Las Vegas; his mother, Trinidad Sanchez of Las Vegas; one sister, Tatiana Rodriguez-Sanchez of Duarte, Calif.; and one brother, Roberto Rodriguez-Sanchez of Acapulco.

Graveside services were scheduled at 2 p.m. today in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., handled arrangements.

Horace M. Searle

Horace M. Searle, 73, of Sandy Valley died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born April 25, 1931, in Texas. A resident for 30 years, he was an auto glass installation technician, an Army veteran and a member of the Lions Host Club.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; one son, John Zalsman of Las Vegas; three daughters, Kathy Hill of California, Lisa Bailie of Colorado and Amy Jo McIntosh of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Adella M. Smith

Adella M. Smith, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 7, 1920, in Arkansas. A resident for many years, she was a teller.

She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Smith of Las Vegas and Jack R. Smith of California; one daughter, Nancy Rose of Hawaii; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Kent Edward Wilcox

Kent Edward Wilcox, 28, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 18, 1975, in Mauston, Wis. A resident for 10 years, he was a real estate agent at Liberty Realty.

Viola Gwyn Wilson

Viola Gwyn Wilson, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 27, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. A resident for five years, she was a chef.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; and one brother, Homer P. Dyer.

She is survived by one daughter, Deborah Baker of North Las Vegas; one stepson, Larry Wilson of Denver; two sisters, Anna Blattel and Margaret Stone, both of Cape Girardeau; and five grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 11 a.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will be in Denver.
