Republican Clark County Commissioner Lynette Boggs McDonald has raised almost four times as much as her Democratic opponent, Assemblyman David Goldwater, in the race for her District F seat.
But Goldwater outspent Boggs McDonald during the period that ended Aug. 31 to help him to his primary win.
Boggs McDonald, a former Las Vegas councilwoman appointed to her county position in March by Gov. Kenny Guinn, has raised $876,674 for her campaign to Goldwater's $223,666 as of Aug. 31. She also received more in-kind contributions, raising $44,245 to his $12,740.
Goldwater spent his entire war chest and then some in his primary, with expenses totaling $257,554. Boggs McDonald spent $220,919 -- leaving her with more than $650,000 for the general election.
