Letter: Boggs McDonald should apologize for comment
Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004 | 8:55 a.m.
Clark Clark County Commissioner Lynette Boggs McDonald, who called the Democratic Party the "last plantation in America," does not understand why she needs to apologize to the African-American community.
She has made a statement that assumes, as African-Americans, we are stupid children who do not have a mind of our own. But not only has she insulted African-Americans, she also has insulted Americans of any race who are Democrats.
My family, friends and I are educated, intelligent human beings who vote for the person we feel is best qualified for the job regardless of political party. We do not vote blindly for any party.
Based on her statements, however, Ms. Boggs McDonald does vote blindly for all Republican Party candidates, regardless of their qualifications. She appears to be guilty of the very thing of which she accuses everyone else. Let him (or her) who is sinless cast the first stone.
