Builder plans equestrian park

KB Home, Southern Nevada's largest homebuilder, has plans to build the area's first equestrian-themed park in the northwest Las Vegas Valley.

The 4.8-acre park, near the corner of Horse Drive and Bradley Road in Centennial Hills, is slated for completion in about six months, city of Las Vegas officials said.

The park is being built as part of the builder's "open-space" requirements; homebuilders must develop a certain amount of open space for parks in their developments.

The park will have pull-through parking stalls, nearby hitching posts, trails separated from the road, and an arena. Also planned is a shaded corral and watering stations. Parts of the park will be lighted for nighttime use.

The park will contain no grass, but it will be landscaped with drought-tolerant plants.
