Woman accused in daughter’s death out on bail

A 38-year-old woman accused of killing her diabetic daughter posted $35,000 bail and was released from the Clark County Detention Center on Thursday.

Cheryl Botzet must report to jail in person once a week to verify she is still in the county as per the orders of District Judge Sally Loehrer.

Loehrer lowered Botzet's bail to $35,000 from $100,000 on Sept.16 saying she was "not a danger to society because she doesn't have any more diabetic children." Loehrer said she was concerned that Botzet might be flight risk and that's whay she ordered Botzet to report to the jail one a week.

Botzet is scheduled to go to trial in March on a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the death of her daughter, Ariel Botzet. Police and prosecutors allege Cheryl Botzet neglected the monitoring of Ariel's insulin levels over a period of time, which led to the girl's death.

Under Nevada law it can be considered murder if a child dies as result of parental abuse or neglect.
