Letter: GOP takes away overtime pay
Friday, Sept. 24, 2004 | 9:15 a.m.
Well, here we go again! Yet another devious blow by the Republican Party to hard-working Americans already struggling to pay the steadily rising property taxes, monstrous power bills and enormous gasoline prices.
By recently denying overtime pay to millions of deserving workers, George W. Bush and company have guaranteed that their right-wing base of huge corporations, the major contributors to the Republican Party, are once again jumping for joy.
Never mind that the many exhausted Americans depending on their overtime pay just to properly nourish and care for their children will now be paid their regular miniscule wages (before taxes) for all of the extra hours they work.
The most depressing part of this entire disgusting scenario is that a marginal number of hard-working, retired or disabled Americans are still so uninformed and misled that they will actually again vote for the elitist Republican Party. This, despite the fact that these right-wing "compassionate conservatives" would never dream of treating an average American citizen to even a Happy Meal at McDonalds.
How appalling this is -- and how terribly, unbelievably sad.
