Two Las Vegas area firefighters were honored Saturday at the International Fire Fighter Memorial Ceremony held in Colorado Springs.
Las Vegas Fire & Rescue firefighter Ronald Crews and North Las Vegas firefighter William Harnedy were honored among 106 fallen firefighters from the United States and Canada who were killed or reported as deaths in the line of duty between June 2003 and June 2004.
Both Crews and Harnedy lost their battles with cancer, which related to inhaling carcinogens found in burned material, in late 2003.
The names of the 1,689 fallen firefighters have been engraved into the Wall of Honor Since its creation in 1976.
