Two girls on bike, driver of car injured in collision

Two girls, age 9 and 10, collided with a four-door Saturn about 7:30 p.m. Monday while riding double on one bicycle across Boulder Highway, Henderson police said.

One girl went through the windshield and both were seriously injured, Todd Rasmussen, Henderson police spokesman, said.

The two friends were not wearing helmets and were in the middle of the intersection when they collided with the Saturn, Rasmussen said. The girls were not in the crosswalk and it was after dark.

Henderson Fire and Rescue transported the girls to University Medical Center by ambulance, Rasmussen said. Their condition was unknown this morning.

The driver of the Saturn, Teresa Pugh, 24, was transported by ambulance to St. Rose De Lima Hospital. Her condition was also unknown.

Police have not cited anyone in the incident, Rasmussen said. There is no evidence that drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision.
