Letter: Bush’s decisions have made world more dangerous
Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 | 9:13 a.m.
President Bush lied to us about the al-Qaida/Saddam Hussein connection and the so called "weapons of mass destruction" and now the damage is done -- a long, bloody, costly and unnecessary war.
Billions of our tax dollars are going overseas, which is creating havoc on our domestic programs and resulting in record government budget deficits. There are funding cuts to education, health care, the environment, police departments, etc. It is not a sign of leadership to take office with a budget surplus and then run up a big budget deficit when you campaigned for fiscal responsibility.
When the leader of the free world disregards the United Nations and invades a country based on erroneous evidence (especially when this country is not even a clear threat), it's not leadership. Now, it is easier for the extremist groups like al-Qaida to bash America and cook up terrorist plots.
On the other hand, diplomacy is not a sign of weakness -- it is a sign of strength!
The world is a much more dangerous and unstable place because of Bush's mistakes. The economy is bad, unemployment is up and we have lost important allies overseas who view us as arrogant and violent.
Please, voters, make the right choice on Nov. 5. We have already lost enough.
